The Best Date Night Spots Around Greenwich This Fall

I don't know about you, but my husband and I do not get out enough for date night — with four kids, there's just not enough time in the day. This fall, it's my mission to get out for at least 3 date nights, and I know exactly where I want to go. If you’re like me and you’re looking for a fun little date night, start here.

If you’re in or around Connecticut, you must add these gorgeous spots around Greenwich to your list.

I’ve lived in Greenwich my entire life, so I can honestly tell you the best places to go. Keep reading for my recommendations, and rest assured: all of these are great special occasion spots for dinner, drinks, and more!

The Delamar Greenwich Harbor

If you could use some extra elegance in your life, I highly recommend a trip to The Delamar Greenwich Harbor. The only problem is you’ll probably want to stay the entire day. You might even accidentally book yourself a room, stay for a long weekend, and find yourself getting a spa treatment.

But if you really do only have the day, start things off by walking, of course, the harbor. Take in the iconic marina and check out the eye-catching yachts and classic sailboats. Then, grab an upscale lunch at the l'escale restaurant; it’s open 11:30 am - 3:00 pm. My husband and I have had our eye on the Salon BE Chocolat for a unique experience. Basically, you get to learn from Belgian Master Chocolatier Benoit Racquet (and do a sampling, of course). You’ll leave smarter about one of the best things in the world — chocolate — and full of it, too.

If you do feel inspired enough to book a room at the hotel, you’ll get complimentary valet parking and access to a truly remarkable spa with European offerings. Plus, the hotel itself is dog-friendly.

If you’re having a big, BIG date, like an anniversary or even a honeymoon, the hotel offers a chauffeured picnic in a classic car. Whether you’re into cars or not, it’s hard to deny how COOL it would be to be chauffeured around in a 1941 Cadillac Series 60 Special Fleetwood. Now that’s a date night my husband and I could remember.

Valbella

If chic and trendy is your style, you’ll fall in love with Valbella, which has been serving delicious eats and impressive wines since 1992. Its wine cellar is home to nearly 1500 selections. This spot has everything you could dream of, with a fireplace, comfortable seating, and a dessert menu worth your time. I’m partial to the Aragosta Crosta, a gorgeous lobster tail with baked Brie, but you’ll enjoy it here whether you enjoy seafood or not; my husband has really enjoyed the filet mignon in the past. No matter what, just don’t forge the Ricotta Cheesecake — yum.

If you enjoy your meal (trust me, you will!) consider coming back with a group of friends or family and reserving a private party in the cellar itself.

Polpo

Now Polpo is a real gem. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like dressing up and getting fancy-fancy. Remember, four kids? Polpo is classy without being too upscale, and blends casual with date night-vibes just perfectly. With just two locations – one in Greenwich and one in Palm Beach, Florida – this is a family-owned dining spot where you can dig into traditional Italian food.

One of my favorite things about it is that the dishes were brought to Greenwich by owner Ron Rosa all the way from Calabria, Italy, and the space itself is clearly well-loved, with unexpected art across the walls and fun little touches like glass jars filled with olives. It’s a great stop for lunch and dinner, and you can’t go wrong with the lobster bisque and truffle pizza. But I’d eat anything on the menu.

BONUS: A Daytime Greenwich Getaway

I recently visited Winvian with my manager, Barb McKee, and it was amazing. Located in the Litchfield Hills, this is exactly the sort of place worthy of a day trip from Greenwich. Sip wine, relax at the spa, and recharge in your very own cottage. Don’t let the word “cottage” fool you; when Winvian says “cottage,” they mean upscale luxury with stunning wood and stone details.
