Family Day Trips to Norwalk, CT

Interactive Activities at the Stepping Stones Museum for Children

If you have little ones, the Stepping Stones Museum would be the perfect place to go for the day! Located in Norwalk, Stepping Stones is a hands-on museum designed specifically for kids under the age of ten.

With interactive exhibits and engaging activities, your littles can explore topics ranging from science and art to culture and literacy. There’s also a toddler play area, outdoor garden, and a dedicated space for children under age 4.

I’d strongly suggest stopping into Mr. Frosty’s Ice Cream Shop on the way back to Greenwich. It’s a local favorite for a reason – the ice cream sundaes are great to share!

Learn About Long Island’s Marine Life at The Maritime Aquarium

While in Norwalk, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Maritime Aquarium. It’s the only aquarium dedicated to marine life from the Long Island Sound!

Good news for all Connecticut residents! The aquarium is participating in the “CT Summer at the Museum” admission program, which means all Connecticut residents 18 and under receive free admission, along with one accompanying adult.

If you’re wondering what critters you’ll see, here’s a short list:

  • Varieties of sharks

  • Stingrays

  • Harbor seals

  • Sea turtles

  • Tamarins

  • Meerkats

Plus, the 4D IMAX theater at the aquarium offers educational films on a gigantic screen, providing an immersive cinematic experience. Right now, you can catch Rio: The 4-D Experience and BBC Earth’s OCTOPUS: Blue Planet II 4D Experience playing every day.
